How To Always Look Put Together

Saturday, 29 September 2018

I know we all have those days where we just completely feel 'meh' about everything. Food, the weather and definitely our outfit - you end up feeling so 'meh' about everything and anything. Which means when you get to choosing your outfit of the day something boring and sloppy comes out and ya look like a hot mess (in a bad way). So I thought I'd share with you how to look (and feel) put together - even when you feel like an unproductive blob.

The classic pieces are called classics for a reason (shocker I know.) A simple black handbag, a clean-cut blazer, the perfect red lipstick and your own pair of perfect sunnies are the ultimate combination to always look clean and put together. For me, those classic pieces are incredible but here are a few more of my favourite ways...

Clean, staple fabrics are one-hundred-percent the way to go. Yes, fashion is all about experimentation but for me, denims, wools, faux leathers and cottons are the perfect way to go. Of course, if you love to mix things up (as we all do) go for embroidered denim, fancy tweeds and studded leathers but like I said, staple fabric go with any occasion, any mood and always helps me to feel more confident and comfortable.

Especially for coats and other fitted pieces! A good fitted piece is soooo transformative. It's all about appearing confident and powerful and a good pair of well-fitting trousers or a classic blazer will instantly give you that. Once you find your fit, stick too it and make sure you  amp up the number of fancy fitted pieces in your wardrobe!

Trust me ladies, gentlemen and people of the world - if you clean up your nails, scrub your pores and snatch your contour (yes, I know what that means) you'll feel not only so much more ready for the day, but just so much more put together and fancy. It doesn't matter whether you're wearing huge hoop earrings or a ripped denim jacket, if you have a fresh hair cut and are fresh-faced from an evening face mask - you can't lose.

It's not always about your clothes. Perfumes can play a huge role in day to day outfits and there is a perfume for every mood and I love picking one according to how I'm feeling or what I'm up to on the day. Once you find a few you like, don't be afraid to invest and mix up your collection. My perfume of choice for the ultimate comfort boost is anything fresh and fruit-based!

And those are my five simple ways of looking put together on those serious 'meh' days. What do you do to look put together? What's your favourite simple, statement pieces you always go back to? What would you like to see my post this Autumn?

  7. Classic pieces is such a good suggestion, along with keeping a close eye on choice of fabrics! Have a fabulous week babe :) x

  8. I consider pulling on a pair of jeans as being put together! Any tee tucked into a simple of pair of jeans is better than sweats and certainly better than staying in pyjamas, which I've definitely done before :P And if you really want to step up the casual jeans+tee look, a pair of heels/heeled booties always does the trick! Jeans and tees are simple enough and versatile enough to be dressed up or down, which I love :) I think fit definitely comes into play when finding a good pair of jeans. It took me so long to find jeans that fit me well, so once I found them, I bought two more pairs! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
