WELCOME BACK TO THE F-WORD

Wait, what's the F-Word again? Ah yes, in-case you didn't know, a few weeks back I started a series on this blog called The F-Word which is basically going to be looking at everything to do with feminism. For the second instalment for this series I thought I'd share some of my favourite feminist podcasts that not only break down the new wave of feminism we've seen recently, but also share why feminism is needed, what feminists are fighting for and how to tackle everyday sexism against all genders. I've been sooooo obsessed with podcasts lately and will definitely be doing another post soon on my top ten. There's something for everybody in the world of podcasts and I hope you enjoy learning about some of my favourite feminist ones! x

Feminists Don't Wear Pink
In-case you didn't know I am completely in love with the Feminists Don't Wear Pink and Other Lies book curated by wonder-woman Scarlett Curtis and featuring a range of essays from 52 incredible people all on their kind of feminism. I've loved this podcast for so long and the recent episode featuring the wonderful Keira Knightley has to be one of my favourites. Each episode, Scarlett invites an incredible person on interviews them on how/when/why they became a feminist and what they're passionate about within the feminist umbrella, for example actor Saoirse Ronan talks about sexism in her industry, female role models and her relationship with her Mum among other things. Each episode is completely unique and around 40 minutes so feel free to listen over a series of sessions if listening all in one go feels like too much of a commitment!

Dublin Podcast Festival 2018 - HeadStuffThe Guilty Feminist
This is one of the first podcasts I ever listened to and is one of the reasons I'm so in love with them today. This incredibly successful and popular podcast is hosted in front of a live audience and is hosted by comedian Deborah Frances-White. Each week there are wonderful special guests who talk about loads of different issues concerning feminism including body image and NAME whilst also discussing their relateable insecurities, mistakes and hypocrisies. The episodes are around an hour long and always make me laugh, if you're looking for a place to start with podcasts - The Guilty Feminist is the best place to start.

The Gurls Talk Podcast | Listen Free on Castbox.

Gurls Talk
I have to confess I've only listened to a few episodes of this podcast with activist and model Adwoa Aboah. On this podcast there isn't strict, direct talks about feminism but it is a topic that threads through every episode as Adwoa chats to strong, powerful women about their lives and successes. It's a really inspirational podcast that motivates massively and has introduced me to plenty of strong, influential women I hadn't followed previously. Episodes vary between 30 mins and 1 hour 30, so grab yourself a cup of tea for this one.

Again, this podcast is not strictly branded as feminist and is a pop culture podcast hosted by the wonderful Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes. The pair bring on guests, talk about what's happening in the world and keep me updated on everything that's going on really. Like I said, it's not explicitly feminist but certainly views the world through a feminist lens and the pair discuss everything from the serious topics (abortions, mental health, pay gaps) to the silly topics (parties, festivals and celeb gossip).

Your Angry Neighbourhood Feminist
This is a fab American podcast hosted by Keegan and Medigan use humour along with their raw and real opinions on issues facing women in the world today. Most episodes are one hour long but the gals also do news shorts that are twenty/thirty minutes long where they look at what's in the news recently and how it relates to feminism and human rights. This is a new find for me and I've honestly fallen in loooove with itttt!! x
