MY JEWELLERY COLLECTION IS BIGGER THAN YOUR FUTURE

When I was twelve I got my ears pierced for the first time and after having to get them traumatically re-pierced (don't ask), I began creating a jewellery collection for myself. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't until a few months ago that I become more of a 'jewellery person.' But I have realised my great love lay with huge, colourful and generally garish earrings that are often heavy and uncomfortable but looks bloody fabulous. Since purchasing my first pair of hoops (by, 'purchasing', I mean stealing from my Mum) my jewellery collection has grown and grown and now includes neon orange earrings, an elephant necklace and more recently two gorgeous rings from Abelini.

Like I said, in recent years I've harvested a love for all kinds of jewellery. To me, a good ring and a pair of chunky earrings can make any outfit come together and really show off your personality. Sure, you're in a simple black dress - but paired with detailed silver hoops and a statement ring and the outfit isn't just another carbon copy. You are unique and fab - show people through what you wear!

Although I am a huge fan of big statement rings, I've recently been loving smaller more delicate pieces that can be worn with everything everyday and can also be paired with the bigger more statement pieces if you still want to try those. These more classic pieces are the things that stand the test of time, they're investment pieces you'll never 'go off' because they're so timeless and chic.

One of the smaller pieces I've been in love with is this simple and delicate ring from Abelini (pictured on index finger). Small and adjustable (heck yes) it goes with everything, doesn't cause too much of a fuss and did I mention it was snazzy as hell?

Rings, like a good pair of earrings or a squirt of expensive Chanel at the duty free in the airport, can make you feel fancy and worth a million bucks (as they say.) Okay, so the initial investment can be a little steep (there's pieces for every price range) it's no myth that most of the time, you get what you're paying for. And in the case of this second ring from Abelini (second finger, pictured) - you really do feel expensive. It's one of those pieces you probably won't crack out every day of the year (unless you're feeling particularly fancy) because let's face it, it's big and glitzy and very extra. But that's the lifestyle a lot of people love to go for, so why not throw it on on a Monday morning? It's the start of a new week - celebrate!

I always thought buying jewellery was something really snazzy and indulgent - like buying an expensive perfume or posh chocolates. As it turns out, buying jewellery can be as expensive or inexpensive as you like. You can buy pure gold rings covered in diamonds and made especially for you, or a pair of cheap metal hoops that are mass-produced and cost less than a coffee. My point is, jewellery isn't something people should shy away from. Whatever your gender, personal style or bank balance is, there's something for everyone in the world of jewellery.

  38. When I first got my ears pierced, as soon as I was able to switch out my earrings, I bought a ton of hook earrings and would switch them out every day! Nowadays I wear the same small hoop earrings from Mejuri, and I also sometimes wear delicate rings :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
