My In-flight Travel Essentials

Thursday, 21 July 2016

Hello Guys and Gals,

Yay! Summer! It's the perfect time to travel and go somewhere sunny, enjoy a city break and just do some travelling! But how can you keep yourself occupied during a long-haul flight?
I'm constantly surprised at how much I can actually fit in my hand-bag, now I'm not going to lie to you, I have natural packing talents, but even so I still seem to wonder if my handbag is out of Mary Poppins, and that is the reason I can fit SO much in! I'm sure we've all been there (and I'm sure it's not just me!)
I am 100% one of the busiest people you will ever know, and that's not because I lead a busy life - oh no, it's because I like to be busy, so the idea of sitting in one spot on one plane for so many hours - is not appealing! Don't get me wrong, I love travelling SO MUCH, but sitting in the same spot - is not fun! It's important for me to not lose my sanity on a plane ride, so having things to do in my bag is VERY important. It's also important to have all of my travel essentials in there, so today I thought I would share with you the essentials that I always put in to my in-flight bag!
Let's get going...

MY BAG
My bag is usually a rucksack or large handbag but for longer flights having a small suitcase for my carry-on is definitely a good idea because I always tend to take a lot more on longer flights.

EYE MASK
Now this is a recent addition to my travelling collection, so many of you may be surprised that it's actually here! An eye mask is the perfect thing anytime you want to sleep, and I know that sounds obvious - but let me explain!
You're sat in your seat and the person next to you is staying up, all night, reading. Now that's not the issue, the issue is they are keeping their light on and you want to go to sleep, so what do you do? You put on your eye mask - sorted!
It also lets you kinda notify the people around you that you're sleeping, and it helps express it to the lovely ladies and gentleman working on the plane too!

TISSUES
You never know when you're going to need tissues my friend!

HAND GEL
There are a ridiculously large amount of germs in and around an airport, so having this with you is going to help you out. Avoiding germs is a good idea and staying as clean as possible is going to help you feel refreshed, and that's good!

WET WIPES
I don't always bring these with my, but sometimes it's just nice to have them or buy them in the airport, when you want to freshen up during the flight and keep yourself refreshed, wet wipes re just one of those things that you know you need because they are pretty much useful in most circumstances! They're just so useful!

SUNGLASSES
One of the best feelings in the world is stepping of a cool plane into the warm heat of a sunny country, so having your sunglasses at the ready is the perfect idea!
I live in England - and it rains, all the time (sigh). Meaning that the heat and sun of a sunny destination is welcomed with open arms. You also kinda wanna be able to see the country and sights as you travel to your accommodation (or wherever your going when you step of the plane) so keeping your sunglasses in your bag - is a very good idea!

NIBBLES AND DRINKS
always make sure to carry a small bag of snacks and with me on every flight. Even though there are always snacks to buy available  they are usually REALLY expensive - and I don't want to blow my budget on a tub of Pringles! No thank you!
The only thing I do buy on flights are drinks, they are the cheapest thing on board, and come with a cup and ice - fancy. Flying is a really dehydrating process for your body, so keeping yourself hydrated, (even if it is one a 7UP) is a very good idea.

PURSE 1
Purse 1 will usually contain things like my passport, boarding pass and all of those really boring documents that you so desperately need to get you anywhere.
TOP TIP - NEVER exchange money at an airport, their rates are ridiculous! I would always try and go somewhere reasonable like the Post Office!

PURSE 2
Purse 2 is going to be my purse. Pretty self-explanatory.

OVER-SIZED JUMPER
Here's the rule:
If you're snuggled - you're happy.

BEAUTY BAG
Usually I like to take a small beauty bag on-board, I don't actually wear makeup for any part of flying, so the bag does tend to be quite empty! Even though I don't wear makeup, I might take some with me just in case!
1. Chapstick - wow my lips get so dry from flying!
2. Concealer - just in case (and I've usually bought one at Duty Free, AKA one of my favourite places on earth!)
3. Small Hairbrush - my hair does not like flying. Even if I put it in a top-knot (which is where it usually lives) it'll still fall down and get knotted!
4. Moisturiser - SO DRY
5. Tissues - you never know when you're going to need tissues my friend!
6. Hand gel - There are a ridiculously large amount of germs in and around an airport, so having this with you is going to help you out. Avoiding germs is a good idea and staying as clean as possible is going to help you feel refreshed, and that's good!
7. Wet Wipes - I don't always bring these with my, but sometimes it's just nice to have them or buy them in the airport, when you want to freshen up during the flight and keep yourself refreshed, wet wipes re just one of those things that you know you need because they are pretty much useful in most circumstances! They're just so useful!
8. Deodorant and perfumes - It's all about keeping fresh

HEADPHONES
I always like to brings two different paris of headphones on flights, so I bring my nice over-head headphones and I bring my in-ear headphones. I LOVE my over-head headphones, and think they are ridiculously comfortable, however if I want to sleep (which I rarely want to do on flights) in-ear headphones are so much better, plus in-ear headphones are perfect for next to the pool and other things like that!

COZY SOCKS
I don't like wearing socks usually, but throwing in a pair of cozy socks is going to save your life!
Basically, as soon as I take my seat on a plane, my shoes come of and stay off until we land. I love being barefoot however, the air conditioning is usually on full blast in the airplane so bringing a pair of cozy socks, like I said, is going to save your life!

STATIONARY
I have to take:
- A few notebooks
- A small pencil case
- Quite a bot of general stationary
With me on EVERY holiday - no joke, just my rules.

BOOKS
I like to take a small library with me on long holidays, and most of the books tend to stay in my main suitcase, but 1 or 2 go in my carry-on for the flight!
BOOKS ARE AN ESSENTIAL TO EVERYTHING!
I do not own a Kindle. I will say no more about Kindles.

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD (AGAIN)
Now my friends, there is a difference between nibbles and 'food glorious food', in case you didn't know 'food glorious food' is junk food. I eat quite healthily on a day-to-day basis, but junk foods are actually needed on flights, you don't want you ears to pop painfully do you? Boiled sweets are the ones to go for to prevent the pain of it from happening. Constantly chewing and swallowing will help pop your ears and relieve the pressure that has built up.
(PS - Toblerone in Duty Free is SO cheap!)

ELECTRONICS
Phone, charger, laptop, headphone-thing-so-you-can-put-more-than-one-pair-of-headphones-to-a-phone, etc.

I hope you enjoyed this blog-post!
What goes in your in-flight bag?
Have a lovely day and I'll see you soon...

Lots of love,
Grace
