Rapid Fire Book Tag

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

Hey Everyone,

Recently I saw the wonderful Jessy Paige, do a video (on ze YouTuuuuube) called the 'Rapid Fire Book Tag'. Now - let's not lie - I am a big old fan of doing Book Tags (and talking quickly) so I couldn't resist giving it a go.
Let's get going...

EBOOK OR PHYSICAL BOOK?
Physical Book - obviously. There is nothing better than a physical book - I don't even own a kindle! Just something as simple as turning the page or the smell of a book - who cares about connivence? 100% physical books!

PAPERBACK OR HARDBACK?
If you look on my shelf you will see a LOT of paperbacks, so I'm gonna have to go with paperbacks! They're so much cheaper and easier to take around in your bag, and you don't have to worry about ruining the sleeve that the hardback comes in - it's logic people! (Don't get me wrong hardbacks are beautiful are they are study as heck - but paperbacks are just better!)

ONLINE OR IN-STORE BOOK SHOPPING?
I do actually do a surprising amount of book shopping online, but as we all should know, there is nothing better than walking into that beautiful bookstore (that smells incredible), running your fingers over all the books and pulling off the shelf the one you've wanted for at least a minute of seeing the cover (hehe...)

TRILOGIES OR SERIES?
I LOVE a good trilogy, I just always think they look so much prettier on the shelf - so I think I'm gonna go with trilogy's, just because series are so much longer and usually I tend to find they kinda drag on and don't give us that snappy crazy ending we all crave. I mean it's nice to know what happens next but there will always BE a next (if ya know what I mean) so I'm sorry fans of series, but it's gotta be Trilogies!

HEROS AND HEROINES, OR VILAINS?
Don't get me wrong - I love a good vilain, and I especially love reading books with an incredible vilain - but I'm a sucker for a good hero or heroine. I just love a happy ending and seeing heros and heroines save the day, so it's gotta be heroes and heroines guys!

A BOOK YOU WANT EVERYONE TO READ...
Ummm...Ummm...Ummm...
I think I'm just gonna have to throw in a self-promo and say: WAIT UNTIL I DO MY FAVOURITE BOOKS (a blog-post coming to a screen near you - ooooh my puns are so bad......)

RECOMMEND AN UNDER-RATED BOOK...
I'm gonna go for:

Okay, so I know I'm basically ignoring everything I just mentioned about liking trilogies more than series - BUT (big but - hehe) the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, doesn't get enough good press! This is a series I read in SUCH a short space of time and honestly there was a ridiculous amount of twists and turns along the way! If you want to get into reading and can't - read this book series!

THE LAST BOOK YOU FINISHED...
If I Stay by Gale Foreman

I really loved this book, and adored how it was different from anything else (want me to do a review?)

LAST BOOK YOU BOUGHT?
The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge

I cannot wait to read this book - it looks so good! Recently an AWFUL lot of romantic novels have been read - so a novel about mystery and murder sounds perfect.

WEIRDEST THING YOU'VE USED AS A BOOKMARK?
I usually use something like a picture or post-it bit, let's not lie, I've used everything from a hairband to another book, to a picture of Christian Dior to random bits of paper! I don't actually own many bookmarks, but I've found a post-it note I like now - so I guess we'll be sticking with that for the time being.

USED BOOKS : YES OR NO?
I'm actually going to have to be really bad and say no. I just adore the feel of a new book, the way it smells and how it's so crisp and gorgeous. I have borrowed books from friends and siblings before, but I rarely go into a charity shop and buy books from there...I know I know - I'm a terrible person *looks to the floor in shame*!

NAME YOUR OP 3 FAVOURITE GENRES
Dystopian (YAASSSSS)
Contemporary
Fantasy (or maybe mystery in there too?)

BORROW OR BUY?
Buy. I own too many books. #NotAshamed.

CHARACTERS OR PLOT?
Honestly, it depends. Sometimes I will fall so in love with a character I don't care what they're doing (well, I do - but ya get what I mean) But I do love a fantastic plot and a great story with a lot of fantastic twist and turns that really keeps my interest. So honestly - both!

LONG BOOKS OR SHORT BOOKS?
Looooooooooooong booooooooooooks (see what I did there?)
I love a good chunky book that sits lovingly in my hands and really gets deep into the plot and characters. I don't really adore a short book, they always just feel a little unfinished to me - anybody else feel the same?

LONG OR SHORT CHAPTERS?
With short chapters I feel like I get the through the book a lot quicker and feels like it's moving faster which is good, but I DO love a good long chapter. So I'm gonna be totally awkward and say medium-short chapters!

NAME THE FIRST THREE BOOKS YOU THINK OF!
Hunger Games
Uglies
Anna and The French Kiss

(Boom - appreciate the speed :)

BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU LAUGH OR BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU CRY?
I'm (hopefully) a positive person, so usually I would go for books that make me laugh, but I don't think humour is done very well in books (it always ends up being a bit cheesy), so I'm gonna have to go with books that make me cry - the stories are usually better!

OUR WORLD OR FICTIONAL WORLDS?
Seriously - is this even a question?!
FICTIONAL WORLDS!

AUDIOBOOKS : YES OR NO?
Never listened to one - please don't hurt me...
1. I honestly have zilch storage for audible or any of those incredible websites
2. Usually you have to pay to be 'subscribed' to the websites and I'd rather just save up and buy the actual book instead!

DO YOU EVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER?
Yes - yes I do. I know - I'm a terrible person.
But honestly, if I'm looking through the bookshelves in a bookshop, I'm gonna stop at the one that looks pretty! I'm sorry, once again, please don't hurt me (hehe!)

BOOK TO MOVIE OR BOOK TO TV ADAPTATIONS?
Book to film, book to film, book to film!
Books, Beauty, Music and FILMS are the four most important things in my life (maybe throw in fashion and travel) and films are some of my favourite things of all times! I love a good TV series (don't get me wrong) but book to movie are ALWAYS better!

NAME A MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU PREFERRED TO ITS BOOK...
Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I LOVE this book with all my heart and soul, but the movie is just one of those movies that is easily in my top 10 favourite films of ALL TIME! Everything about this film is so perfect - no lie.

SERIES OR STAND-ALONES?
Series! Stand alone books always make me a little sad because they don't have any friends (smiley face) but also because they sometimes feel a little unfinished or they don't look as pretty on the shelf!

I hope you enjoyed this blog-post!
What's your favourite book genre? Hunger Games or Divergent?
Have a sparkling day and I'll see you soon...

Lots of love,
Grace
