A Rambly Post About Pushing Yourself In The New Year

Tuesday, 2 January 2018

It's a new year for a new take on blogging and life. And it's my 250th blog post.

Welcome to a brand new super-shiny year. I'm not going to ramble about how a new year brings a fresh start...but I am going to ramble about pushing yourself, as it's something that feels kinda important to me at the moment. I just want to share that ramblyness inside my head. Which is fair enough.

PUSHING YOURSELF DOESN'T HAVE TO MEAN 'DOING' THINGS
When someone talks about pushing yourself, usually they mean DOING things like jumping out of a plane of buying a one way ticket to Bali. But that isn't always the case. It can be as simple and as cheesy as thinking positively. Instead of waking up covered in yesterdays makeup and dreading school or Uni or work, wake up excited for the new challengessssss the day may (or may not) provide. Choose to have a good day, choose to be motivated. It's all in those choices hun.

NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL YOU CHANGE IT
When you're in a bad place, having someone tell you that 'the only way to feel better is if you PUSH yourself' can feel...not so good. In those moments those people may end up with an eye roll and in some cases...a slap on the face. sorry. But nothing is more overwhelming and motivating, no matter how much someone helps you, than realising that the biggest change is going to come from you kiddo. You're the only person that can change the way you live you life and how you feel about...everything. But you know what that means? It means you're in control. You get decide who you are and where you're going and what you're doing. You're in control.

THE MORE YOU PUSH YOURSELF THE EASIER THINGS BECOME
Since I started actively trying to change my day to day life and just make it more of a wonderful challenge, suddenly everything didn't seem so scary anymore. The more I did things, I found it so much easier to do them again. And the more I did things there more I WANTED to new new things. I used to look at some situations (usually stuff I'd set myself) and feel overwhelmed, now I look at any of these situations and think, eff it I'll do it anyways.

DO IT BY YOUR OWN RULES
You are in control and you get to make all of the decisions. There will be countless amounts of people who will tell you what is supposedly best for you (don't get me wrong they're probably right) but you don't have to follow them. It's up to you what you do with your shiny new year. Remeber that and give yourself some credit from time to time.

Lots of love,
Grace xox
