MUSIC IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL BABES

Looking back at my Spotify playlists, CD collection and even a few vinyls - I've realised something. It doesn't matter what day it is, where I am, or even what the vibe is: there seems to be a list of something like 8 albums I ALWAYS come back to. Doesn't matter what year they came out or who they're by - I ALWAYSSSSSSSSSSS come back to these little happy nuggets of music. So today, thought we could have a little chat about them and obsess together (yay!)

HARRY STYLES - Harry Styles
Now kids, I was never a One Direction fangirl. Just not ma vibe. But since Harry's self-titled album came out I've been a wee bit obsessed. This album is gritty and edgy and happy and sad and gives me all the FEELS. Whatever mood I'm in, Harry's debut-solo album sums up life in a raw and real way, whilst taking influences from everyone from alternative-legends like Fleetwood Mac. Intimately emotional with a soft-rock Seventies vibe.

JP COOPER - Raised Under Grey Skies
Overall this is a boooootiful album. Each song is individually emotional and presents a different aspect of life everyone can relate to. It's pure poetry, incredibly romantic and actual beautiful. Like FLOWERS GROW WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM. His voice is pure and one of my favourite's out there - from beachy bangers to tear-jerkers. This wonderful album has it all.

ED SHEERAN - Plus, Multiply and Divide
Plus will always have a special place in my heart as one of my favourite albums out there. It's gritty and real and what I still believe to be the 'real Ed.' (cringe I know.) It's the street-busking, youthful, mistake-making Ed that makes him so popular and real - Plus tells the truth.
Multiply is more mature - it just is. It present the world in a more mature way, whilst beginning to explore a wider range of vibes, he begins to explore less raw raps and more head bangers and summer tunes.
Divide has a few gems, but overall is not my favourite. As a complete album, it is wonderful - but I just feel like it's too commercialised and Ed's just going for the money-making side of things more than anything else. Sorry bro, a great album but I don't feel like it's the Ed we all fell in love with.

JAMES BAY - Chaos and the Calm
WHAT AN ALBUM! If you've never listened to the complete album - do it DO IT NOW! Every song is an Indie-rock masterpiece with poetic lyrics and a killer voice. James has one of my favourite voices ever and I'm sooooooooo hyped about his new album. James Bay is a bae.

THE BIG MOON - Love In The 4th Dimension
This is a new little diamond I've found. A little further away from the rock-inspired indie-vibes I usually go for, this album is definitely 'read between the lines.' I'm not a fan of every single song individually, but a solid 80% of the album is wonderful. From an all-girl band, these songs aren't the girl-power poppy songs you'd expect. And I like that.

JAMES ARTHUR - Back From the Edge
James Arthurs album is just so god-damn real. Every lyric and every melody and even the way its sung...it is so incredible real. Live - James is a gem and I actually love him. He isn't afraid to be himself and say what he wants to say and sing about what he wants to song. Pretty much? Each song is a banger so go listen to it now ;))

A few other favourites:
Tokio Myers - Our Generation
Years And Years - Communion
Meghan Trainor - Title

What albums will you forever be obsessed with?

Lots of love,
Grace

  1. Ohh that's so cool you collect actual vinyls omg! :O My sister is obsessed with Ed but I've only listened to a few of his songs I admit. More the older ones?! I'm so behind on everything.😂 And while I usually like just single tracks instead of whole albums of most artists, I practically love EVERYTHING of Imagine Dragons and Alan Walker and Sia!!

    1. I looove vinyls - they're super-duper expensive but totally worth it. Older Ed is definitely my fave too - your sister has good taste :) And so so so Imagine Dragons are incredible, I'm pretty sure Sia's voice was a gift from God.
