The Met is one of New York's most popular destinations and the the Met Gala is one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year, and over the past few Gala's the events been getting bigger and bigger. More than just another red carpet event, it really amplifies the merging of high, editorial fashion and all forms of art.

In case you didn't know - The Met Gala is the fashion world equivalent of the Oscars or the Superbowl, an evening where designers, models and Hollywood stars come together sporting the years most over-the-top looks. Usually on the first Monday of May, everyone who is anyone heads over to the Metropolitan Museum Of Art for the annual fundraising gala celebrating the Costume Institute's incredible new exhibition on a changing theme. Tickets for the prestigious event cost around $30,000 or just over $275,000 for a table - and with nearly 600 guests, the Met manages to raise quite a lot of dough.

This years intriguingly cryptic theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination (ooh la la). Think priest vestments, stained glass windows, elaborate robes, jewelled chalices and nun monochromes. The directions in which the celebrity attends was endless, so here's a little bit of fashion and beauty inspiration I took from some of my favourite looks.

As always Carbi looked amazingggg and in this Moschino masterpiece she was walking the edge between art and fashion perfectly. I was completely amazed when I saw her completely embodying the theme whilst being seven months pregnant (nawww). She really does look heavenly.
For me, it was her gorgeous makeup I've really be obsessing over, deep purples and thick liner connote royalty and across the cosmetic world, companies have been releasing gorgeousssss purple palettes over the past year and after seeing this truly stunning look - I'm ready to snap one up for myself.

It's official - Blake Lively alwayssss looks like a princess. She juts does okay?.
Oh and one thing I learnt from this years Met Gala - Blake Lively's incredible Versace gown took over 600 hours to make. Wow. As the world gasped, it became clear of just how well she took on the theme: the bejewelled corset mirrors a chalice; the skirt and train resemble priests robes and the finishing touch? A custom made (let's be real, what's not custom made at the Met Gala?) Judith Leiber clutch with the initial of each of her family members on the four points of the cross. I'm in love with every part of this outfit, especially the rich velvet shades of reds.

Then, of course there's Zendaya styled by the babe Law Roach (such a babe) in Versace for a little bit of a different take on religious iconography - Joan of Arc. It is just so damn extra hun.
I loved the strong, feminine look to this piece and how the metal seems to look so weightless and powerful, and doesn't swallow up her figure like you would expect it to. Law Roach and Zendaya once again proving to everyone why they're the worlds favourite red carpet duos.

And OF COURSE, how could we forget out new Pope Rihanna? Of course it was no surprise that Rihanna brought it. Because 1) she ALWAYS brings it and an obscure theme never scared her and 2) she was finally co-chair of the even so she pretty much already rules over everything. But I think everyone already knew that. And I think every little detail of this outfit is sold out everywhere. So hopefully I found a few that won't break the bank quite as much as Rihanna's outfit (that cost almost as much as her ticket in total :0 )
