My 5 Favourite Italian Cities

A LOVE LETTER TO MY 5 FAVOURITE ITALIAN CITIES

Over the past few years me and the family have been working our way around Italy, visiting a whole heap of gorgeous cities and monuments. Each city in wonderful Italy has its own distinct and exciting culture and each have their own amazing sights and experiences to enjoy. There's something so just fab about Italy, so I've written a little letter of love to each of these cities. I love Italy (in-case you hadn't realised) and thought, as it's summer, I'd have a little wander down memory lane and take a look at some of my favourite Italian cities.

So Florence is just gorgeous. Like, gorgeous. This stunning city of little backstreets, beautiful squares and a big ol' Duomo, this gorgeous place is ultimately one of my favourite places ever, let alone just in Italy. I will always remember the experiences I had here and hope to return back manyyyy times in my life. It's not the biggest or filled with the most iconic monuments but if you love art and culture, Florence is the place to go in Italy. Bursting with museums, architecture, open-air galleries and statues, if you know where to look - Florence is, along with Barcelona, in my opinion the home of art.
Perhaps the 'dark horse' of Italy, this smaller Italian city is known for it's fashion. One of the four biggest beacons around the world for fashion weeks and designers (along with London, Paris and New York if you were wondering), Milan is flooded with fashion-orientated tourists throughout the year. This is something you can see engraved in the city, with streets filled with couture houses and high-end shops you might want to have a quick nosy in (even if it is just to have a spritz of Chanel). But underneath this shining face, Milan is home to beautiful parks, an array of museums and a stunning cathedral.

Ah, yes. The big one. Venice. Probably the top of many people's bucket lists and a certainly an iconic image. Venice was undoubtedly beautiful and incredible surreal, it felt unlike any place I'd ever been before due it's tiny streets and colourful buildings, and every so often you were reminded that yes, this is the floating city, as the odd waterway popped up. A maze of bridges, alleyways, squares and architecture, this world-famous city is definitely one for your bucket list.

This gorgeous, much smaller, city is what I like to think of as a little hidden gem amidst huge destinations like Rome and Naples (both of which didn't make the list might I add). Famous for being the home of Juliet's Balcony, I love Verona and was surprised at how much to see and do was there. Pretty piazzas, an age-old amphitheatre and so much more I'd definitely recommend taking a trip to this well-loved spot.

The newest addition to my Italian adventures, everyone seems to be flooding to Sorrento, Positano and the Amalfi Coast the past few summers, and I can see why. The Amalfi Coast in general is a postcard-perfect scene with plenty of places to visit including Pompeii and Capri. Only a hop, skip and a jump away from Rome I love this part of Italy and will definitely be returning one day soon.

I'm sorry Rome, you didn't quite make it - but have no fear, a blog post all about the capital will be coming soon, so stick around. Have you ever been to Italy? What's on your travel bucket list? x
